Cleveland is the 33rd largest city in the United States. It is in Northeastern Ohio, with Lake Erie alongside. In 2005, Cleveland was named one of the most livable cities to reside in. Cleveland is known for its association of Rock music, which is a reason the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is found there. There are many fun things to do when in Cleveland. There are a handful of museums to choose from. Festivals are common in Cleveland and are held throughout the year. Cleveland does not lack in pleasing its visitors.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a hot-spot for tourists. It is dedicated to displaying some of the most influential artists and producers of the music industry. Some of the artists found at the Hall of Fame are Chuck Berry, Ray Charles, Buddy Holly, and Elvis Presley. The museum consists of seven levels. Five of the levels hold permanent and some temporary exhibits that are about the history of Rock n Roll. Some of these exhibits hold mannequins that wear outfits from different popular performers. There are also different areas that depict scenes from various cities in different eras, such as Los Angeles in the 70s. The seventh floor is about a certain artist or group. It takes up the whole floor. In the past artists that have been featured include John Lennon, The Who, and U2. This museum is a must stop for any fan of music.
If you enjoy landmarks, make sure to visit the Terminal Tower. It was built in 1929 and was the second tallest building in the world. There is an observation deck for visitors to go on. An elevator takes the guests to the 42nd floor. You will be able to see Lake Erie, and the Cuyahoga River. There is a small fee to see this landmark from the inside, but it is worth it because of its history and beautiful views from above.
Cleveland offers several museums, one of which is the Cleveland Museum of Natural History. It is located five minutes from downtown Cleveland. The museum has more than four million specimens. Some of the highlights include the only specimen of the small tyrannosaur Nanotyrannus lancensis, over 800 ape and monkey skeletons, and extensive mineralogy collection that includes a moon rock and gem collection. There is also an area outside of the museum that has live animals, somewhat like a mini zoo. You will find different birds, and even otters. It is a great place for the whole family, especially those with children.
Flowers can be found year round when taking a visit to Cleveland Botanical Garden. It is located at University Circle, the old spot to the Cleveland Zoo. The Eleanor Armstrong Smith Glasshouse is home to plant and wildlife in two separate biomes. One of the biomes is the spiny desert of Madagascar and the other is the cloud forest of Costa Rica. These biomes are home to over 350 species of plants and 50 species of animals. Also on the property is over 10 acres of gardens, including the award winning Hershey’s Children’s Garden. Also included is the Japanese Garden, and Sears-Swetland Rose Garden.
