The White Sands Of Cancun

The white sands of Cancun

Imagine water so clear you can see brightly colored fish swim beneath. Imagine sand so white that the starfish clinging to it, pale in comparison. If you have ever seen pictures of paradise in magazines, chances are, you were looking at the beaches of Cancun.

In 2005, hurricane Wilma doubled the size of the sandy shoreline in Cancun. After complete restoration, Cancun’ beaches are bigger and better. Although the beaches are considered public property, some access has to be maneuvered through the hotels. A walk down the talc sand will lead you from one beach upon another.

In the hotel zone, you will discover 14 miles of coastline looping around an inland lagoon known as Laguna Nichupte. What could be more perfect than basking in the sun by the ocean and then indulging in jet skiing or kayaking in the beautiful fresh water lagoon? Topless sun bathing is typical on some of the beaches in Cancun. Although with a stroll or a bus ride, you can find a beach suited to you.

While in Cancun, check out one of these great beaches:
Playa Langostos: This beach rises to the top as one of the most loved beaches in Cancun. It provides dolphin adventures, a petite shopping area, restaurants, outdoor showers and a cove. This beach is lined with tropical trees and latched roof cabañas.

Playa Tortugas: A large dock rests in the middle of the sandy shore providing ferry rides out to Ilsa Mujeres. Ilsa Mujeres hosts snorkeling and diving tours. This beach is the favorite spring break destination; it sits next to Fat Tuesday nightclub.

Playa Caracol: If you are entertaining children, this beach is a shallow flat sandy seabed. It provides children an opportunity to explore for seashells and starfish. Playa Delfines: Located down from The Caesar hotel, it offers a large lookout over the sandy shores. It is less populated. An absolutely breathtaking beach.

Playas Las Palmas: A beautiful wide beach. The entrance can be hard to locate. It is through a small wooden gate, next to fiesta Americana Coral hotel
Playa Bellenas: This beach can get crowded due to mass popularity. It has sweeping views which are picture perfect. Many activities are nearby as well as restaurants and shopping.

Punta Nizuc: This is the last stop at the hotel zone, located at the tip of the peninsula, some of the world’s best snorkeling happens here. There is also a marine protected area.
San Miguelto: While basking in the sun, you share the beach with the mayan ruins, waiting for your exploration.

Just outside Cancun there are still many beaches kissing the ocean. Some are more people places such as CoCo beach or Shangri La, where as Tulum beach is a backpacking adventure into more untouched territory. While in this area, venture to Portal Real beach. A sand bottom sea front sporting the Cozumel ferry dock.

No matter where your heart takes you in Cancun, there is magic to be found on any of the tropical sand beaches. Every beach waits to give the traveler their perfect vacation memory.
