East Quogue The Hamptons

East Quogue is one of the oldest communities in the Hamptons, New York. East Quogue became a popular summer resort in the early 1800s when people from New York City would often get away from the hustle and bustle of the city to retreat into this quiet, seaside community. Here you will find some of the finest hotels in The Hamptons as well as some quaint bed and breakfast establishments.

Stroll down the quaint streets of East Quogue and you will feel as though you have transcended time. Here you can see such local sites and homes that date back to the early 19th century. Do not let the early architecture fool you, however. Although the shops look like older establishments, they contain all of the modern amenities to suit those of us living in the 21st century. Tours are available through many of the older homes, some of them dating back to the 17th century.

Nothing can be nicer than walking down East Quogue’s main street in the spring or summer. Browse in the many gourmet coffee shops and sit in outdoor cafes where you can watch people walk by. The main street in East Quogue has something to offer everyone, including some of the best antiques in the area.

Summer concerts are played weekly at Hamlet Green. Hamlet Green is located at the center of the community on Main Street and has spacious lawns, playgrounds and a large bandstand where the summer concerts take place. Craft fairs are often sponsored on Hamlet Green, the central hubbub of the East Quogue community.

Fine beaches surround East Quogue. One of the best beaches in the are is the Tiana Beach which offers showers, restrooms, life guards, a food stand and volleyball court. Those who wish to bring their own food for a day at the beach can enjoy their food in the lovely picnic area. Tiana Beach has been playing host to the swimming set since the early part of the 19th century and is a clean beach where one can get cool while frolicking in the Atlantic Ocean.

If you like seafood, East Quogue is your ideal holiday destination. Here you can sample some of the best, freshest seafood from the Atlantic Ocean, including some of the best lobster you will ever taste. Quaint restaurants are scattered throughout East Quogue and no matter what your tastes, there is surely something for every taste.

Shopping for crafts and antiques? You will find a large selection of lovely antiques and whimsical handicrafts, including some of the best homemade candles in the United States at East Quogue. Main street is lined with many historical shops and although most of them carry modern amenities, there are many different craft shops, antique stores and charming little gift shops located throughout main street. Some of the sidewalk cafes are the best places to relax, with a cup of tea or coffee, after a long day of shopping and sightseeing.

Although East Quogue became a popular summer resort in the early 1800s, it is by no means only suitable for summer vacationers. The charming, historic village has a variety of seasonal celebrations, including Christmas festivals, that take place throughout the year.
